This presentation is devoted to the artist Sofia Cruz Rocha, who was born in 1989 in Mexico City and now lives and works in Vienna since 2014. Cruz Rocha studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts ENPEG Esmeralda in Mexico City and was invited to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna by the artist Martin Guttman at the end of her studies.
Cruz Rocha’s work links contemporary art and hermetic teachings through an extensive body of artwork using media such as painting, installation, and sculpture. It explores universal laws, the connection between the microcosmos and macrocosm, along the evolution of human consciousness.
Her work has been shown internationally at: Galeria Enrique Guerrero, Mexico City; Meno Parkas Galeria, Lithuania; Macura Museum, Belgrad; Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Vienna; 12-14 Contemporary, Vienna; VKBÖ, Vienna; Museo de San Ildefonso, Mexico City; Museo Nacional de Arte MUNAL, Mexico City; Kunstraum am Schauplatz, Vienna; Galeria Faro, Italy; Lugar a dudas; Colombia. In 2015 she won a scholarship Financing Project Akbild Vienna, Austria, and was awarded a FONCA scholarship for Afecciones- a house as a walkable installation, in 2014.
