Christo: Early Works comprises of nine sculptural works alongside select works on paper, produced by the artist in the early years of what would become a prolific and legendary career.
Alongside Christo’s early works are select paintings and sculptures from antiquity and Old Masters, to modern and contemporary art, reflecting C1760’s mission of supporting cross-category collecting. Among these is a significant work by Francisco de Zurbarán and Workshop, The Veil of Saint Veronica, and two portrait busts from antiquity, as well as sculpture by Claes Oldenburg and Roy Lichtenstein, and painting by Piero Dorazio, Hans Hartung, Heinz Mack, Antoni Tàpies and Walter Leblanc.
Curated by Bjorn Stern, the presentation is comprised of more than forty paintings, drawings, sculptures and multi-media works by a diverse range of artists, including Jan van Wechelen, Frederick Charles Underhill, Takis, Salvador Dali, Albrecht Dürer and Max Ernst.
